This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") explains what you can and cannot do with Redacto. It applies to every user of the Service and forms part of the Terms of Service. If you break these rules, we may suspend or terminate your access.
1. Use the Service lawfully
You must comply with all applicable laws and regulations when using Redacto. This includes data protection law (such as the GDPR), intellectual property law, and sector-specific rules that apply to you or your industry.
2. Don't upload what you don't have the right to process
- Only upload documents you own or have explicit permission to process.
- Do not upload personal data belonging to others without a legal basis.
- Do not upload content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, or trade secret.
3. No abusive or harmful content
You must not use the Service to upload, process, or create content that is:
- Illegal in the country where you are using the Service or where the content originates;
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM), in any form — this is always prohibited and will be reported to the relevant authorities;
- Designed to harass, threaten, defame, or incite violence against a person or group;
- Malware, phishing content, or material intended to defraud others;
- Content that promotes or facilitates serious self-harm or dangerous activities.
4. Respect people's privacy
Do not use the Service in a way that violates anyone's privacy. Don't upload documents to extract personal data about other people for unlawful purposes, don't circumvent another person's privacy choices, and don't try to re-identify individuals from redacted output.
5. Don't misuse or overload the Service
- Do not probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service without our written permission.
- Do not attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or to other users' accounts.
- Do not deliberately overload or disrupt the Service (for example, by sending excessive traffic, scraping, or running denial-of-service attacks).
- Do not reverse-engineer or attempt to extract the underlying models, prompts, or source code.
- Do not resell or sublicense the Service as your own without a written agreement.
6. No prohibited automation
The Service is designed for human-in-the-loop redaction. You must not use bots, scripts, or other automated tools to submit documents at a scale or speed that is inconsistent with normal use, or to bypass rate limits, captchas, or plan limits. Reasonable automation for your own legitimate workflows (e.g. scripted uploads within your plan allowance) is allowed if it doesn't degrade the Service for others.
7. Account hygiene
- One account per user — don't share login credentials.
- Keep your credentials safe and notify us if you suspect unauthorised access.
- Don't create accounts using false information or on behalf of someone who is banned from the Service.
8. Enforcement
If we believe you have breached this AUP, we may suspend or terminate your access, remove content, and, where appropriate, report the activity to law enforcement. We try to give notice and an opportunity to fix the issue, but we may act immediately if the breach is serious, unlawful, or harmful to others.
9. Reporting abuse
If you see something that violates this policy, or if you're affected by someone else's misuse of Redacto, email support@redacto.co with as much detail as you can share.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be communicated on this page with a new "last updated" date.
